A 2016 CGCC Spring Swap Meet is in the Air!!!

What's that? A groundhog seeing it's shadow? A glade of spring flowers? Nope! It's the 14th Annual CGCC Spring Swap Meet! Blossoming out of the winter and into a spring near you, the CGCC swap meet returns this May for another afternoon of fun, trading, door prizes and tomfoolery! We invite everyone to join us and enjoy the spring air! Here's the pertinent info!

I intend no negativity with my question, but I was curious at how the 1pm - 4pm range came into being? My first impression would be that a swap could be 6-8 hours, but maybe three hours is the sweet spot given the target audience?

That's a good question. I've had several people ask me that over the years. I've just found that the swap meet goes in 3 phases. There is a mad rush for people to get in. The first hour all the "good stuff" goes fast. You see something that you're on the fence on and decide to walk around and come back? Chances are it will be gone. The first hour it's a feeding frenzy of all the great/popular games being bought. The second hour it's more relaxed. People who were sitting on the fence buying something will usually break down and buy the game. Some deals can be had still. By the third hour pretty much all the "good stuff" has been sold. Vendors will start "blowing out" stuff they don't want to lug home. I know personally by the third hour I don't have much left. Crowds have thinned out. I've never seen the point going past the three hour mark.

We've actually run 4 and 5 hours shows before and by hour 4, there's virtually no one left and vendors tend to pack up and start leaving between 4 and 5 hours. Three hours is definitely "the sweet spot" for a show like this one.

@ The Evener...it's best to be early...at least 20 min....doors open, the swarm begins, no one is safe, the deals go FAST. Show up later and it's like picking the last bits of flesh off of the bones of your enemies...

I'm interested in events like this, but I've not been to this one specifically. Will there be arcade gear there, or just consoles?

It's primarily consoles, but there is the occasional arcade board or item. Depends on what you're looking for. I have JAMMA boards and Sanwas but I rarely bring them.
