Foosball Refurbish

Picked up this FAS Foosball table way back in the days of the Starburst auctions.
I've had it for years now and never really done anything to it.

My buddy works at a print shop and offered to print me a replacement playfield for FREE!
It had some damage from some liquids being spilled on it prior to me owning it.

I had never honestly looked into replacing the playfield previously. With this offer of a free playfield I thought I would look into some other ways I could jazz up the table on the cheap.

I picked up two 18" USB LED light strips for about $5-6, I decided I would power them from a Powerbank I picked up from Canadian Tire for $20.
Outside of that everything got cleaned up and the yellowing plastics got a few coats of flat white paint to freshen them up.

I decided to not go with the replacement playfield my buddy printed as it wasn't happy with the quality of stock used.
Years ago when I did a little graphic design I got a drop and repeat printed for my daughters 1st birthday so people could pose in front of it.
My printer did a really good job and the price was quite reasonable. I decided I would email him for a quote on doing the new playfield.

Thanks to some help on BYOAC, opt2not did a vector trace of the FAS logo for me, and the playfield I recreated looks really nice.

Here is how the table looks today with the LED lights installed, the glass all nicely cleaned, and the fresh white paint.

I'll probably get on the replacement playfield this week.

testing out the LED lights before install.

I decided I would use some leftover privacy window film I had to frost the corrugated plastic inserts. The LED lights would be placed behind these.

Image
Originally behind the corrugated plastic were these blue strips of thin wood (or veneer) with the FAS logo.
I decided I could always add my own FAS logo after and print up a decal if I wanted.

Image
I had to clean up old dried liquid from between the channels on the corrugate plastic.

Testing everything out with the window frosting installed.

Removed the plastics for paint.

All clean and ready for paint.

All back together again....waiting on new playfield.

Looks great! I have had the home version since October 2003 (just checked the receipt). I bought it from Costco for $399.99 new. It doesn't have a cover for the play field.

Costco actually sold the home version again this past Christmas online and instore. FAS tables are my favorite for the foos!

@ Scott84

Do you know what it sold for at Costco this year ?
I got mine back in the auction days, probably under $300 off memory. If not closer to $250 taxes in.
The little refurbish was cheap and looks good, everyone that's seen it digs the lights.
Like I said in the prior post, under $30 for LED's and powerbank.
I had such a busy weekend, it honestly got hijacked. But this week if I remember I'll call for the play field quote.
Seeing how the table looks now, I NEED NEED NEED the play field to really complete this.

Under product description it says its made by FAS. Shipping is included in the price so that price is up there.

I want to say I saw it in the store for $500-600.

Cool.

I've been sick this week, so I haven't looked into my replacement play field yet.
But I did leave my LED lights on, the powerbank gave me 5+ hours !

Thanks !

These little small tweaks/modifications have made a big difference in my honest opinion.
I think ANYTHING is cooler with lights !

Still need to get the replacement field ordered and installed.

Wanna ask the wife if she thinks I should go with the current replacement I have.

I think when it's under the glass it could look cool, I just don't like the stock quality. But in reality what does that matter under glass ?

Not to mention, I guess in reality, no reason why I can't see how it looks and order another as needed.

Thanks @ bristol888.

I've also decided to use the playfield my buddy printed out for me.
I think once it is installed under the glass it will look good.
Hoping that I can perhaps get it installed this weekend.
I'm not going to removing all the rods, so I'm hoping I get (A) get the glass cleaned well, and (B) slide this new playfield into place.

It looks nice! Aren't there any problems with the glass on it? I think that it'll be hard to keep it clean if you're going to use this table as intended.
I like foosball tables so much. Now I play foosball with my children or mates at home!
I was dreaming about having it at home and only after 10 years I finally got it.
Literally, it's not mine, but my children's.
That was a cool story, when I assured my wife it's a good idea to buy a foosball table for our children as a gift. I've found some source like that one Foosball Tables for Kids to ensure her that many people present such things to their children as gifts.
From that time, I always play foosball with my children, we have competitions and even a tournament board. In my childhood me and my brother went play foosball, ping-pong, darts and many other things. I remember how I liked it and I believe I should show my children all charm of such types of games. I started with the foosball table and they are happy.
