Ideas on how to hang a traffic light

Postby theyangman » Wed Aug 03, 2016 6:48 pm

I just picked up an old metal traffic light and unfortunately it is just the three lights. No original hardware is there that used too attach it to the lamp post.

Any ideas on how to hang this in my basement?

I often find that when I'm at a loss as to how to do something, I have a few beers and the solution suddenly appears in my head 8)

From the ceiling, you'll likely need a steel octagon box securely screwed to a joist above. Then find a way to attach a chandelier fixture chain to your signal light. It's a bit of a job, but should look great. Another option, find a clean steel rim and add a post to the center and turn it into a corner lamp.

My basement is unfinished so I have access to all the studs and ceiling joists.

piece of threaded pipe, wheel hub, and a tire rim build a stand mount light on top.
