WTB Nanao MS9-29

Postby brad808 » Tue Dec 22, 2015 8:37 pm

Bah I had some, got tired of tripping over them, sold them, now need one :censored:

Working or non working doesn't matter. Must have ZERO screen burn. Must be auto switching.

Have 3 or 4 other really nice 29" monitors some vga, trisync, svga, that I could potentially do a trade with.

Let me know when you find out. If it's 29" then you might be in luck when I find an ms9, if you have a nanao ms9 then we both might be in luck :D

Bump. Please note I'm looking for the auto switching version of this monitor, not the version with the jumper connector on the back for 15khz and 24khz. The auto switching version has a black relay in the same place.

What you are looking for is an MS9-29A with chassis model number 05A00675C1

I have one, but it's not working...has collapse(Can't recall if V or H) and I haven't had time to get at it, but IIRC it's because I capped it and one cap requires a non polarized cap, and I put a polarized one in. Been quite some time, but I think it caused said collapse to only show the picture at half the V or H of the screen but otherwise not "squished".

Edit: According to this post, it's C411 - http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.p ... #msg871509

You have a full monitor with the tube, frame and chassis or just the chassis?

Complete monitor, no screen burn...just the issue I described.

No problem, just go over the caps and likely replace the incorrect one(Been a couple years since I even looked at it) and it should work perfectly. It worked great but had some geometry issues, so I recapped it and it wound up with the issue I described.

I had a chance to look at it today and I'm thinking there might be an issue with the vertical deflection ic at u401. It's going from partial to full vertical collapse and shutdown. I really don't think c411 is the root of the issue because it was in fact a bipolar capacitor in there. I swapped it anyway since I had it so why not. I have two other working ms929a I checked and funny enough they are both running polarized caps so I doubt there are any lasting issues from that. I'll dig deeper when I get another chance but the manuals for the ms9 are atrocious and are about as useful as tits on a bull. I'll most likely do a side by side, compare all cap values and check solder, do some continuity tests and swap out the la7837 ic.

I got some parts in the mail tonight from digikey and was able to get this monitor up. No need to swap out la7837 ic at u401. It runs vsync from LA7852 @ u550. u550 needs c452 a small surface mount 0.1uf film capacitor. C452 was split. Replaced c452 and it fired up properly.

Nice...so its working good? How odd for that to go when all I did was recap most of the electrolytics to try and get rid of geometry issues.

Yes it's working great now. The cap was physically split horizontally. Since it sticks out farther than the rest of the components on the underside of the board it likely just got knocked by something. Thats my best guess anyway.

When I first fired it up after replacing c452 I had some geometry issues (maybe what you were referring to from before the cap kit). Adjustment pots were very unresponsive. B+ was very low. B+ for 15khz is supposed to be up 76DC and was only 63ish, b+ for 24khz is supposed to be 119DC and was somewhere high 90s. Very well could have been caused by me, don't recall which knobs I turned on which monitors.

After B+ adjustment all pots came into proper value and all is very well.
