54 sheets of drywall arriving tomorrow

Postby nagamitsu » Fri Mar 11, 2016 8:54 am

One step closer to the basement being done! Guess I know what I'm working on next week while on holiday. :)

If you want it done sooner than later - spend less time sanding the drywall seams (which is messy and time consuming).
Simply mud in the seams with a wide flat spatula scraper to make it as even as possible (it won't be 100%, but very close).
Then apply textured paint!
This will hide any imperfections, prevent you from wasting a ton of time and mess, and allow you to get your arcade machines in there before March Break is over :D

Have to see how things go, we were possibly hiring someone to do the taping/mudding as it is. May not be able to move machines down yet either, as we still have to then get carpet done.

I need to get measurement of floor area of the arcade room, so I can find/order some blacklight carpet to fit that area. :D

Blacklight carpet is very expensive, and you can only get it from the US (which, right now, is going to be even more expensive).

Crap it is expensive! I could deal with some of that high price, what would make it easier on me would be if there's any companies/sources in Canada that has it. Odd that I can't find any dealers/suppliers in Canada.

Not that I know of - the topic of arcade carpet has come up a lot in the past on the forum, and it's all been in the US only (Astro Carpet Mills being the #1). I tried looking for a Canadian supplier at one point, and came up with nothing at all.....

My two cents: It'd be cheaper to dress up the walls with arcade-like paint/designs and keep the carpet a nice "arcade-like" generic berber....

Quick question......whatever happened to 80s wood paneling?!? That's about as retro as you could get ;-)

Wood paneling, heck no! Yes, it's gonna be 80ies, but not "basement" 80ies! There's a few other suppliers out of the US, I think I just need to determine which one I will order from (plus get my room measured to determine how many square feet/yards).

These guys have it too: http://www.flagshipcarpets.com/index.bl ... =3&sub=Fam

Trip out to Cambridge might be a problem though? You do taping/mudding/sanding? :)
