MVS Drug Messages

Are the "drugs are bad" messages on
the cart rom? Is there any way to get rid of those?

No idea about Neo Geo stuff but I know there were usually 2 versions of a lot of games, the North America "Just Say No" and
the worldwide versions that didn't have it.

Wasnt this a secret government policy about funding the entertainment industry to help promote the USA's
"war on drugs" in the late 80's? I know the film industry was pushed to develop and lot of anti-drug messages, especially for all those bad action films.


My old VF2 machine had a US/Japan setting. The Japan setting didnt have those messages.

ya i think it is, because I don't think all games have that "winners don't use drugs" message

found this on the universe bios home page... which leads me to beleive that they are coded in the game and not the bios or something.

The games 'King of Fighters 98', 'Real Bout 2', Neo Geo Cup 98', and 'Breakers Revenge' will cause gfx glitches and even possible
system resets if you insert a coin during the 'winners don't use drugs' screen (USA arcade mode). This is a bug with game code and not the UNIVERSE BIOS,
the same problem happens when using an original USA region SNK BIOS.

I know i have 3 mvs
games that have it.
Metal Slug is one of them.

Some games like puzzle bubble got the
"Recycle" message instead of the Anti Drug message.

By the way Ethous, like playing Puzzle Bubble ? I will get Magical Drop 2 soon.

oh hell yes and i am thinking of getting magical drop 2 and maybe 3 all depends on funds.
