I think the scaler is probably just integrated into their jamma adapter, unless they've managed to somehow output 15kHz via the HDMI using software.

There is NO scaler on that board, the Pi can output 15 khz, 240p

The seller on Ali Express said he would discount the Pi's $2 if I bought 2.
However locally I found a seller on Kijiji, 2 Pi 3's with 2 X 32GB SD card
for $80. Seller has the original box, I'd just need to get the HDMI wires,
heat sink, and chargers. Did someone say the chargers could be found at
Dollerama ? Either way, for $40 each and no wait times I think that is a
good deal. The extras should not be too much, and it would allow me to start
working. I should be getting them Tuesday. I'd probably still order the kits
for future projects.

Do you have the HDMI config or point me to a site for configuring this video mode? It would be useful for using a pi in a non jamma cab with an arcade monitor. I'm not doubting the claim, just want to know how I'd set it up in software.

I posted the link to the aussie-arcade forums above, it's not a light read. :)

Here it is again.
http://www.aussiearcade.com.au/showthre ... spberry+PI

This guy is also making an accompanying SD card image for his board that uses the GPIO ports on the Pi, and video resolution, etc.

Now you could buy just the HDMI to VGA adapter (Which he includes I believe), but you'll need to get the proper one.

The file attached below I got from another guy that has been messing with the same thing, just no Jamma adapter, essentially straight from the Pi, then into a J-PAC from Ultimarc. (http://www.ultimarc.com/jpac.html)

Here's a vid...

Personally these two solutions are steps in the right arcade direction! I think that the all in one Jamma board + Pi piggyback solution is the best IF you have an existing JAMMA cabinet. Because it's all self contained.

The only kicker is the Australian board is a bit pricey at $160 AUD (no Pi included)

Anyone have any Golden Tee version running on a Pi 3 ?

I'd love to add it into a collapsible table for transport between venues.

I was able to go out Friday and pick up these Pi's.
$80 for the pair with cases and 32GB card in each.
I'll track down some power supplies and when I get a chance download the image for gaming.

Super excited to get to work on this project.

Didn't have a chance to mess around with these Pi's YET... but I'll provide the updates as I do.
I placed an order last week or so for a few related odds and ends.
I'd also like to get into Dollarama and see if they possibly have a charger for them.
(If not I'll order online also!)

I'm undecided on iPac, KADE, or using a Zero Delay Encoder I have laying around.
I was hoping to get a little more info about the controls on BYOAC.... but they
are still not up!

It would be interesting to see a shootout of the three devices. Although, as I assume they appear to the OS as a joystick my best guess is the performance would be the same.
On my first one I am wiring the jamma fingerboard to the GPIO pins and using modified Adafruit Retrogame code which maps GPIO activity to keyboard presses... https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-Retrogame

My second one I am using a Pi Zero and using a Zero Delay encoder, which is recognized as a joystick . Should be interesting to compare.

I'm heavily leaning towards using the Zero Delay Encoder.
Mostly because I think I would be less apt to use that elsewhere.
Honestly I think I could probably sell the KADE Encoders, and the iPac.
Where are the Zero Delay Encoder is readily available on the cheap from eBay.
My hope is that it makes for a wise choice on this project.
I look forward to your posts regarding it's use.

Yesterday I managed to get a lil PC time.
I downloaded the RetroPi image, and watched a few videos on moving the ROMS,
and general set up.

I went through my parts also. I think I'm going to use a switching power supply
that I had kicking around on this project. I have picked up some 12" cold cathode
tubes (green) and some green LED PC fans. I wanted this cabinet to light up and look
really cool. I think with the LED buttons it could look really neat.

I figure the best way to power it all would be the power supply. I can power the fans,
cold cathode tubes, and the 12v buttons easily, and I can simply tie the Pi into the +5V.

I decided I may be best to go with the Zero Delay Encoder on this project. Simply because
I think I would not use it otherwise. One thing that SUCKS is the harness it comes with
has connects that would fit Sanwa (or the fake Sanwa) buttons. I plan on using the LED buttons
with larger terminals on them. So I think I'll just get another daisy chain and hack it
to use with the encoder.

I had planned on using a Sanwa joystick, but I think I'll just go with a Zippy stick.

Does anyone know if the Pi "Emulation Station" software has an option to shut down the Pi?
I would think that simply pulling the plug would not be a good idea!
As noted I want to use an arcade power supply to power all the LED aspects of the project.
Not to mention the monitor, speakers, etc.

Thanks all

Cool. Thanks.

If I'm lucky I'll get a little PC time over the weekend to work on this.
