These candy can group buys are almost always 100% a pipe dream. I've only ever seen a "successful" candy cab group buy over at neo-geo.com... and by successful I means folks got their candies, but practically all of them had issues - which is to be expected on 25 year old cabs.

For those in the future who are interestede in organizing, or participating in a group-buy, I can highly recommend giving this thread over a neo-geo.com a good read

It's not an easy thing to do, buy hey, pimpin' aint easy!

Sorry for resurecting a old thread but
As for the pipe dream I am the exception Back in 2012 i made a Candy group buy for Montréal
i managed to bring 30 Candy from Japan and one infamous EGRET 2 in great shape
here a video of when they delivred the container after 4 month of wait time :

and another video when we tested every single cab :

that was a dream come true for me and for a couple of guys
every cab was in working condition (that was a huge relief)
I only kept 5 of the 30 and now i regret that i didnt keep them all !

The issue with group buy is mainly money since you have 2 option
buy everything from your pocket and sell after (required to have deep pocket)
or ask everyone to pay there cab prior shipment ( ppl HATE THAT) many thing can go wrong that way
like the shipper randomly inspect my container (yeah random !) and charged me a extra 3000$ for the inspection ( and they only opened the door and closed it ) reason given they needed to chck if there was contaminated wood and bugs in the container yeah right
i add to charge a bit more for the cab cause of that

but yeah that was a intense adventure and i would do it again and in a better way i did last time
I maybe planning to do another one in the next year or so
but i wont advertise it before everything is in place and the cab are in the country or near (safer that way)

and its nice to see that there still interrest for those Cab

Rezwalker
I've watched that video quite a few times! Lol

I recently commented and asking which port you got them shipped to.

Yaton just found the warehouses this year. He is slowly rolling them out on eBay. They only have 1 guy to help them clean apparently. Before the warehouse find he was slow for about 6 month. It's just crazy that he found 3 warehouses of Sega parts. We face time the warehouse. So much stuff, it's hard to make out

(1) New Astro City ($2200)
-Near perfect monitor (Nanao MS9)
-Built-In Stereo Amp
-Very clean & 100% working - no issues
-You wont find a better example than this
-No games included - Cab only

(2) Atomiswave SD ($2200)
-Perfect tri-res monitor
-New Power Supply
-I have it set up to run a Japanese XBox 360 right now. Price is for the cab only but I can throw in the J-360 and around 20 shmups for extra $$
-Very clean and works perfectly

Always comes down to price. I would pick up the Atomiswave SD cab but not at that price.

I'd still kill for a Vewlix, even though I have nowhere to put it....
