Arcade art ("real" art not side art....)

Postby jasonec » Wed Mar 05, 2014 8:07 pm

When you partake in a hobby of any type, you often buy stuff that augments that hobby.

For arcade/pinball collectors, it could be an arcade or pinball-themed mug or t-shirt (I have plenty of those ;-) ).....or it could be other stuff like wall art.

One of the things I like to do is dress up my walls with the odd arcade-themed artwork, and I know some other members also do this too in various forms......so I thought we could maybe start a thread where we could show off some cool arcade/pinball-themed artwork.

Here are some of my own favorites:

Living room Space Invaders cave print (ordered from eBay):

Insert Coin art (from the iam8bit Art Gallery store in LA):

Image

Galaga ship print (from Anime North 2011 art section):

Image

Arcade print (from Michaels - they were clearing out their framed demo art in their custom framing section a few weeks back):

Love the colors used in the last one too, really captures the life and energy of the arcades. The black was brilliantly used to give it the feel of a darkly lit room. Who created that one?

I hadn't realized that, but I definitely agree!
It's a print from a painting by Arthur Robins: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/vide ... obins.html
You can also buy the print from Michaels.

I've collected a few screen-printed posters for my home office, most of which were created by Olly Moss and purchased via a cool podcast: A Life Well Wasted.

You can see detailed views of my 'Work', 'Big Ideas' and 'Help!' here: http://alifewellwasted.com/merch/

Ordered four of these 11" x 17" flyers from a gallery in L.A. that was doing a show for Dave 'Mad Dog' Christensen.

Old pinball playfields can make great wall art too. Here's a scabby Hulk I recently picked up for the basement:

My size for the t-shirt sold out but I printed it up for my wall. 'The Madness of Mission 6' is a cool piece by Travis Pitts: https://www.threadless.com/product/751/ ... _Mission_6

Very nice stuff guys. OTTOgd let me low if you are willing to part with one of those pinball prints. Those are cool.

Mostly my gaming art consists of console related stuff, movie posters and marquees. I also have a few LP's related to the arcade hanging on my wall. Will get some pics later today.

I've had a few paintings done by local graffiti artists with an arcade theme.
One of which was a total bust and I'm having my niece paint over it with DK JR (with the key) from the DK JR side art.

I love love love that Hulk playfield......amazing !
iAM8bit puts on some really cool exhibits. I've never really checked out the online store.........perhaps I should.

Here is a guy in Ontario that does some cool stuff.
I was going to buy a few items from him, but I'm yet to do so.
(need to complete what I have and sell what I dont want!)
But his stuff looks awesome.

We'd still have arcades on every block if the guy handing out change had looked like that.

+1 for the old playfield wall hanger.
I did the same thing but put flashing Xmas lights behind it so it still lights up.

You could always scan the one you have and upload the file. ;)
