Edmonton monitor help

Postby ninjastirfry » Sat May 11, 2019 10:09 pm

I have a k7000 giving me problems and I'm in over my head.
Is anyone in or around the Edmonton area who can diagnose or repair a k7000?
My first issue was missing blue. So I checked the transistor on the neck board and replaced just in case. No change. Grounded out blue on neck board and got a blue screen so I'm guessing it's not a tube issue. Reflowed solder on the rgb pin connector.
Still no change. Swapped the red and blue wires had blue but no red. I pulled the chassis and checked Q3 on the main board. After I put the chassis back in my screen was washed out blurry and had white lines across the screen. After about two minutes it faded to looking great but still no blue.
Another two mins or so the screen fades to black and no picture at all. After cycling power it repeats the process.
Someone sent me a picture of key areas to reflow solder on main board and did that but still no change. I've come to the conclusion it's beyond my ability to repair.

I'm a total amateur, but:

For the no-blue issue the troubleshooting chart says to replace Q3 on the main PCB and/or Q203 on the neck PCB -- sounds like you did this. Could be a crack in the neck PCB or an issue with the blue wire that goes to it from the main PCB so check continuity.

The 'screen washed out and blurry with white lines then eventually fades to black' sounds like a flyback issue, like the 'screen' adjustment is up to high and the safety cut-off circuit is turning off the screen so you don't get exposed to an excess amount of x-rays so i'd turn that down.

I recently discovered that china makes replacement PCBs for arcade monitors so that might be an option if none of this helps and you can't find someone to fix it or can't find a reconditioned PCB on ebay. Not sure about compatibility with WG but here's an example:

Thanks for the reply.
I did look in to those universal chassis. I was all excited about it because I saw some videos of them running they look pretty good and within my price range. Was just about to order one and then I noticed on all the descriptions "will NOT work with Mortal Kombat 1-4". Of course the one and only series listed to not work is what I'm trying to get back up and running. But also can't find any information anywhere as to why Mortal Kombat games won't work on these chassis. So that kind of shot down the dream for one of those on me.
